Catalan rider Manel Arpa and Canary Islands rider Julia Castro took gold and silver in the first event of the 2026 Surf Foil World Tour season.
Spanish riders Manel Arpa and Julia Castro began the international e-foil season by stepping onto the podium at the first event of the Surf Foil World Tour, held last weekend in Marchica, in Nador, Morocco.
Arpa and Castro were the standout performers of the opening event of the 2026 World Cup, with the Catalan rider claiming victory in the men’s category and the Canary Islands rider taking second place in the women’s category, just behind Sweden’s Agnes Wicander.
The championship, now entering its second season as a global e-foil circuit, brought together some of the best international specialists in Moroccan waters and confirmed both Spaniards among the top competitors. This is Arpa’s third e-foil appearance, following Sicily, where he finished third, and Abu Dhabi, where he came second. He has now added this first-place finish in Nador. Meanwhile, the Canary Islands rider improved her ranking after finishing fifth in Abu Dhabi in 2025; this second-place result allows her to climb into the leading positions.
The Morocco event officially opened the 2026 calendar of the Surf Foil World Tour, a circuit that will travel over the coming months to different international locations, including Germany, France and China, among other countries.
E-foil is a discipline that combines a foil board with electric propulsion. It continues to grow worldwide in both participation and international visibility, establishing itself as one of the emerging disciplines in board sports and foil sports.
